The problem is not that you are bad at it

Casual GeoGuessr has a specific failure mode. You drop into a round, there is a road, some trees and a sign you cannot read, and there is genuinely nothing there for someone who has not spent months learning what to look at. You place a pin in the middle of a continent, score four hundred, and the round was not fun, it was homework you did not sign up for.

The players who solve that properly go and study. That path works and we have a whole page saying so. It also costs months. If you play twice a week to unwind, months is not a price you were ever going to pay.

What it feels like to play with it on

1. The round loads. You look around like normal.
2. About 3 seconds later there is a country and a pin waiting for you.
3. You either agree and place, or you look again because something on screen disagrees with it.

That third step is the part people do not expect. Seeing a suggestion you disagree with is what makes you look properly at the road markings for the first time. It is not a study tool and it will not teach you the meta, but the rounds stop being blank.

You might not want this

If the enjoyment for you is the moment of working it out yourself, an assistant removes exactly that moment, and no amount of good design gives it back. Plenty of people install one of these, play three rounds, and realise they have taken the game out of the game. That is a real outcome and it is the reason the free rounds exist: find out before you pay, not after.

About one round in five it names the wrong country. That is the honest figure, measured across more than 1,600 real ranked rounds in July 2026. It is weakest on scenes with nothing in them, an empty road or a plain field, which is the same thing that makes those rounds hard for you.
