ATLAS for GeoGuessr Extension Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 23, 2026
This policy covers the browser extension "ATLAS for GeoGuessr" published by ATLAS Software. It explains exactly what data the extension handles, what leaves your device, and what stays local. We do not sell your data, show ads, or run third party analytics or tracking.
What the extension does
While you play a supported game (GeoGuessr, OpenGuessr, WorldGuessr, FreeGuessr, GuessWhereYouAre, Geotastic, Hide & Seek World, GeoHub, MapCrunch, Panoguessr or MapiGuesser), the extension reads the round information the page already receives from the game and shows you the location in its side panel. If you turn on Auto Place, it can drop your guess on the map for you. That is its single purpose.
Data that is sent to our server (geoguessrcheats.com)
- Your licence key, when you activate it and periodically to keep it valid. This tells our server which plan you are on.
- A per install device identifier (a random value generated once on your device) plus a few hashed browser signals (a one way hash of your user agent, language, timezone, processor count and platform). These are used only to limit sharing of a single key across many machines. They are not your name, email or account.
- A monthly round counter, so plans with a monthly limit can be enforced.
- Gameplay statistics, when you have an active key or are signed in: for each finished round the score, the distance in kilometres, the round number, the game mode and the country. We use these only to measure and improve the accuracy of our product. You can turn this off any time with the "Share anonymous gameplay stats" switch in Settings.
- Basic usage and diagnostic signals, when you have an active key or are signed in: the extension version, your browser and operating system, your timezone and language, and which features you use. This helps us understand how the product is used and where it can improve.
- The round coordinate, on paid plans only, sent so our server can turn it into a readable place name (reverse geocoding). It is used to answer that one request and is not built into an advertising or tracking profile.
If you are not signed in and have not activated a key, none of the above is sent. Anonymous free rounds are only counted locally on your device.
Optional Google sign in
You can choose to sign in with Google from the extension. This is optional. If you do, we receive the email address and basic profile of the Google account you pick (through our authentication provider, Supabase) so we can create your account, link your licence key to it and unlock additional free rounds. We only ever request the basic sign in scope; we never request access to your Gmail, Google Drive or any other Google data. If you never sign in, we never receive your email.
Data that stays on your device
- Your licence key and plan status, your local guess history and statistics, your settings and theme. These are stored in the browser's own extension storage and are never uploaded.
- The current round coordinate is held only long enough to show it and, if enabled, place your guess.
What the extension does not do
- It does not sell or share your data with third parties.
- It contains no advertising, no third party analytics, and no cross site tracking.
- It only runs on the supported games listed below and on our own site. It does not read or act on any other website.
- It does not require an account: signing in is optional. Unless you choose to sign in with Google, we do not collect your name or email, and we never collect your contacts.
Permissions explained
- storage: to save your licence, settings and local history on your device.
- sidePanel: to show the ATLAS panel next to the game.
- scripting: to place your guess on the game's map when Auto Place is on.
- alarms: to re-check your licence in the background on a timer.
- identity: only used if you choose to sign in with Google, to open the sign in window and link your account. It is never used unless you start a sign in.
- Host access to the supported game domains (geoguessr.com, openguessr.com, worldguessr.com, freeguessr.com, guesswhereyouare.com and .info, geotastic.net, hideandseek.world, geohub.gg, mapcrunch.com, panoguessr.com, mapiguesser.com) and to geoguessrcheats.com: to read the round on the game pages and to talk to our licence and location server. No other sites are accessed.
Payments
Buying a plan happens on our website, not inside the extension. The extension never sees or handles your payment details. See the plans page for how purchases work.
Data retention and deletion
Local data is removed when you uninstall the extension or use the "Clear all data" button in Settings. Your licence and usage records held on our server are tied to your key; contact us to have them removed.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with an updated date. Questions are welcome via the contact page or our Discord.
