ATLAS on iPhone

ATLAS sits on top of GeoGuessr in your phone browser and tells you the country of the round and where in that country you are, in a small panel you can drag anywhere. On a paid plan it also names the city or place. Extra tabs add a session map, your stats and history, your GeoGuessr profile, and appearance settings.

Read this before you install

You have to play GeoGuessr in a browser. Open geoguessr.com in Safari or in Orion on your iPhone and play there. ATLAS runs alongside the site in that browser tab.
It does not work in the GeoGuessr app from the App Store. Apple does not let any app see inside another app. Nothing installed on your phone can read the round out of the official app, and ATLAS is no exception. If you want ATLAS on your phone, play in the browser instead of in the app.
You need an ATLAS license key, or a free account. The panel loads without one, but it stays locked until you unlock it. Enter a license key (find it in your dashboard after signing in on this site), or open the Account tab in the panel and sign in with Google for 14 free rounds a month. A paid key removes the limit and adds the city or place name.
It records how each round went, and you can switch that off. After a round finishes ATLAS sends us the score, the distance, the country and the game mode, plus a summary once the game ends, so we can measure how accurate it is. Your coordinates are never sent. Turn the round stats switch in the panel off and nothing is sent at all. The privacy policy spells out every field.

Install in Safari

Install the Userscripts app. Open the App Store, search for Userscripts, and install it. It is free. Userscripts is the Safari extension that runs ATLAS for you.
Turn it on for GeoGuessr. Open Settings › Apps › Safari › Extensions and turn Userscripts on. Tap Userscripts, then geoguessr.com, and set it to Always Allow.
Install ATLAS. Tap the button below. Userscripts takes over and asks you to confirm the install. Install ATLAS If you get a page full of plain code instead of an install screen, Userscripts is not switched on yet. Go back to step 2.
Open GeoGuessr. Go to geoguessr.com in Safari, sign in, and start a game. The ATLAS panel appears in the top left corner of the page.
Enter your key. The panel opens with a key box. Paste your license key, tap ACTIVATE, and let the page reload. The badge changes to ACTIVE and the panel fills in as each round loads.

Using Orion instead of Safari

Orion runs Chrome extensions, so you use a different script manager. The install link is the same one.

Install Violentmonkey. In Orion, open the Chrome Web Store, search for Violentmonkey, and add it. Orion asks you to confirm the install.
Install ATLAS. Tap the button below. Violentmonkey opens its own install screen. Confirm it. Install ATLAS
Open GeoGuessr and enter your key. Go to geoguessr.com in Orion, sign in, start a game, and enter your license key in the panel the same way as step 5 above.

If something is not right

The panel does not appear. Reload the page first. If it is still missing, check Settings › Apps › Safari › Extensions again: Userscripts has to be on and geoguessr.com has to be set to Always Allow. Then open the Userscripts extension and check that ATLAS for GeoGuessr is listed and enabled. The panel loads on geoguessr.com and the other supported map games.
The key is not accepted. The badge reads INVALID when the key was rejected. Type the key by hand instead of pasting it, so no space slips in at the start or the end, and check that the plan on your account is still active. If it still fails, message support with your account email.
The panel is in the way. Drag it by its top bar and drop it anywhere on the screen. Tap the arrow button in that bar to fold it down to a single line that still shows the country and the direction. Tap it again to open it back up. It stays where you put it for as long as the tab is open.
The panel stops updating. When the answer no longer belongs to the round on screen it goes grey and shows STALE. Reload the page and it picks up again from the next round.
